Unidentified photographer. René Girier (René la Canne) (1919-2000), two (2) photographs 1949 and 1951: A/ Portrait of René Girier, 1949. Silver print circa 1980, 15 x 10.1 cm. Dedication of René Girier on the image: "In all sympathy". On the back, handwritten indications: "René Girier born on 9.11. 1919 in Oullins / Rhône" and "René Girier / Paris Match N°26 / 17 September 1949". B/Roger Borniche and René Girier, 1951. Vintage silver print, 12.9 x 18.1 cm. On the back, typed caption label and "Intercontinental" wet stamp. Elegant and intelligent burglar, author of 17 escapes and never having killed, René Girier is surely the criminal who aroused the most sympathy in the commissioner Roger Borniche who tracked him down on several occasions.
