Italian manuscripts 101 to 118 of orchestral Overtura or Sin - Lot 185
Italian manuscripts 101 to 118 of orchestral Overtura or Sinfonia of the 18th century A set of eighteen Italian orchestral works from the mid-eighteenth century, at least ten of which are unpublished, by twelve composers such as Giovanni Battista Sammartini, Baldassare Galuppi Detto II Buranello, Nicolo Jommelli, Mattia Vento, Giuseppe Sarti, Giacomo Marchett, Giorgio Giulini and Guiseppino Ruge. Some of these composers are known to have often participated in the organization of the festivities of foreign courts and opera houses; King's Theatre in London, at the court of Catherine II of Russia in St. Petersburg, in the service of Emperor Frederick V in Copenhagen or at the court of Stuttgart. Eighteenth century storage case: cover and title piece on the back cover. The manuscripts of overtures and Italian symphonies are in orchestral score and in separate parts for three of them, only in orchestral score for manuscript 118 and only in separate parts for the fourteen other manuscripts. Four manuscripts have missing parts. All folios of the eighteen manuscripts are in Italian format but probably on French paper. The eighteen manuscripts correspond to 54 folios in orchestral score and 264 folios in separate parts, for a total of 318 folios. A complete research file of 45 pages is available upon request. We thank Mr. Jacques Benelli and Mrs. Audrey Levassort for their work and research.
