H. 43 cm Provenance: Private collection, Paris; by descent Minor restoration to the drapery (chip reattached) Born into an artistic family and a student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Dijon from 1919, Hubert Yencesse met François Pompon and became his pupil. Awarded the Blumenthal Prize in 1934, he moved to Paris and worked with Aristide Maillol until 1936. He received numerous public commissions throughout his career and also taught at the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
