Riccardo Scarpa (1905-1999) Owl Bronze with brown patina Signed "SCARPA Numbered "5/8.8 H. 9 cm Provenance: Private collection, Paris; By descent Riccardo Scarpa trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in his native Venice, before moving to Paris in 1928. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français, receiving a gold medal for his entire sculptural oeuvre in 1974. In the 1940s, he abandoned orientalist subjects and turned to animal sculpture, which he treated in a refined, stylized manner.
