Dandy Pop Off-Piste
Collection of a winter sports aesthete
Following the success of the Dandy Pop and Dandy Pop à table sales, on Thursday February 8 Nouvelle Etude will be offering a new sale at l'Adjugé - the bar at Hôtel Drouot - focusing on the figure of the Dandy Pop. This season, he takes us to winter sports with a selection of objects, furniture, iconography and fashion pieces that will help you relive the unique atmosphere of de la Montagne. Because even in sub-zero temperatures and at the top of the mountain, a dandy never forgets his good manners or his good references.
Some fifty lots will be installed in an immersive scenography recreating the atmosphere of a chalet at the bottom of the slopes, and the exhibition preceding the sale will be an opportunity for visitors to treat themselves to a truer-than-life off-piste experience, at the risk of ending up - happily - in the scenery.
From portraits of skiers hurtling down the slopes to immaculate landscapes immortalized in photography, not forgetting the famous fondue sets signed Enzo Mari for Le Creuset (or variants by Staub or Sigg), from wool tapestries to warm the walls to shepherd's stools or iconic pieces signed Charlotte Perriand, This collection will also show how the mountain theme inspired artists throughout the 20th century, whether they were designers for industry, stylists, painters or simple craftsmen responding to traditional practices.
To this diversity of objects, we must add -2024 obliges- a selection of historical souvenirs assembled around the Winter Olympics, because it's well known: the mountains win you over!
It will then be time for the Dandy to pass the torch to new aesthetes who, despite global warming, won't be losing their touch when it comes to style.
"When will I see you again, wonderful country?
At Drouot, of course!
